This sucker is CRAZY Good! September 5, 2010 T. A. Gilman (San Diego) Ok, so I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a new vacuum. I've never been able to justify $500 for a vacuum so subsequently I buy $200 or less vacuums and need to replace them say every three or four years. I actually like trying new models and getting new stuff every few years. I also own 2 dogs who drop a lot of fur. I have hard wood floors and lots of area rugs of various thicknesses. Along with the usual dust and webs. I was wanting to replace my Hoover Wind Tunnel (just needed "more"-- one with more reach to get up in the corners of the ceiling, skylights, ceiling fans, etc.) I was looking at the Dyson Reach and Dyson Animal and then I got a really killer deal on a new Shark Navigator Extreme Reach (comes with tons of extra "animal" and floor attachments, and extra hose section which yields 21-foot reach!). And the 7 year warranty sounded great so I bought it. Easy to assemble, lightweight, bag full of extras. After I had it assembled I cleaned my living room with my Wind Tunnel. Then I did it again with my Shark..HOLY COW BATMAN! I could not believe my eyes! The stuff it picked up was amazing! It got up a ton more fur, and dust and dirt that must have been down deep deep in the rugs. I never saw that stuff come up with the Hoover. I had to dump the bin 3 times! (Shark bin is kind of small, but I don't mind at all, it just amazes me to see the stuff it picks up). And, the carpet nap was all fluffed up and the whole room looked like brand new. Honestly! I went from area rug, to area rug, to hard wood floors to area rug. Amazing suction, light-weight and easy to maneuver and use. I love it. I am a huge fan, hence this review. It never lost suction, and it's quieter than my Hoover. Light weight, long cord. It's my new BFF. I highly recommend this vacuum. (Only nit would be it doesn't have a retractable power cord.) I never tried a Dyson, but I can tell you that I can't imagine one working better than this. And my deal was $158 (with $30 off coupon and $75 store credit, final price $53; I feel like I won the lottery!)
Great Vaccum, Great Price September 5, 2010 2008 CRNA (Ooltewah, TN) As I type this review, the price is under one-hundred seventy bucks. That is a steal when you note that in most stores you will pay $200 plus taxes. As all previous reviewers have mentioned this is THE alternative to the Dyson series. At 1/3 the price, you can't go wrong. The only complaint is the small dirt chamber. Looking at the design, the small dirt chamber was necessary to create the larger suction in the canister but it is frustrating that you pick up so much dirt and yet have to empty it out so frequently (but that can be a plus as well). I bought this vacuum after going through several Walmart junk vacs and combining it with a hardwood floor sweeper (Swiffer sweep and Vac is horrible!). I don't understand why very few vacuums have a toggle switch to allow you to keep suction and stop the spinning brushes. I have cats and they track cat litter all over the hardwood but using a spinning brush just shoots it off to corner and doesn't allow the vacuum to suck it up. The toggle switch is nice because I can go over the hardwood, toggle the brushes to go over the area rug, and back again when I continue on the hardwood. The hose is a great length and this particular model came with the pet tools (a spinning brush head and an extra long crevice tool) on top of the existing short crevice tool, and brush (nonspinning) attachments. A great buy. I'm just not keen on the purple.
A Vacuum for Marathoners September 2, 2010 C. Moore (Santa Fe, NM) I bought the "Shark Navigator No Loss of Suction Upright Vacuum" through Amazon. I read all of the reviews but should have heeded those who had problems with it. Like another reviewer stated, the exhaust outlet is located low on the front of the machine and behaves like a leaf-blower. I cleaned my hardwood floors in double time as I attempted to outrun the blower in order to capture the pet hair flying ahead of the very underpowered suction head. Although my family was amused by this, I was not. I am returning it today.
This vacuum is a joke September 2, 2010 J. Guzman (L.A. California) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had to replace a basic ORECK that i had purchased in QVC at 199.00 with a payment plan i had problems with the bag falling off, they gave me the option to fix it or return it, i decided to return it and get a new one i was checking out amazon and after reding the reviews decided to buy the NAVIGATOR i run to the store and bought it. I was so happy,it was very easy to put together i really wanted to like it but what a disapiontment i have a cocker spaniel and when i started vacumming my carpet it took me 5 passes in the same place to realize that it was a joke of a vacuum too bad it was too late to return it to BED and BATH where i by the way got a 20% discount of 179.00 with a coupon "very good deal" but first thing in the morning i was there returing it, i went to ORECK and got the XL GOLD at $299.00 "special by it self" a little bit expensier but its a drean vac it kind of pulls you leading the way so smooth and feather like it picks up even the last dog hair at once its so hard to describe but is much much better than my first basic ORECK im in love with it the only thing that i really hate is that it doesn't have attachments and or a hose to clean hard to reach areas but im willing to sacrifice due to back problems, they do have a few designs with those things but they're expensier and heavier not for me really. I hope this helps and if you're undecided go for the basic ORECK that they have at stores at $129 or go to QVC and make monthly payments they only weight 9 punds and are very powerfull i have had at least 20 vacuums and i would never ever buy another brand but ORECK it took me a lot of spending finally i found the best.
Great Vaccum! September 1, 2010 T. Fullriede (Wilmington, IL United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had my Shark Navigator for 9 months now and I really like it. I have a beautiful Golden Retriever and his hair is everywhwere! The Shark is great because I do not have to worry about spending a ton of money on bags. I had an Orek that was very lightweight but the bags were expensive and the rollers kept wearing out on me needing to be replaced. With the Shark, I can simply throw the hair into the garbage and move onto my next cleaning. I really like the on board attachments but the thing I LOVE the most is the pet hair attachment. It cleans my funiture very well. I have brought other Pet hair remover products but the Shark works excellent and far better than anything I can buy in the store. The only negative thing I can say about the Navigator is that it is not as light weight as the infomercial claims. It is kind of heavy, but over all it does an excellent job!
